World Red Cross day 2020: All you need to know about it

World red cross day is observed on 8th May every year. Also known as Red Crescent Day, is annual celebration of their principles. This day marks the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, who is also the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross. Furthermore, He also received Noble Peace Prize.

This society provides aid during natural disasters, wars and disease of an epidemic. The society is based on seven principles.

World Red Cross Day and it’s principles

1. Humanity

To protect the life and ensure every being’s health. Also, It works to erase the miseries for human. Furthermore, promoting friendship, understanding and co-operation among people.

2. Independence

The auxiliaries during the humanitarian services of the government also to the subject to the laws of their respective countries. Also, they may be able to act in accordance with the principles of the moment.

3. Impartiality

There’s no discrimination on the basis of race, religious belief, nationality, class or political opinions. They help only on the basis of their needs.

4. Neutrality

They do not discriminate on the basis of racial, political, religious and ideological alterations. Hence, aims to keep everyone neutral in providing help.

5. Voluntary Service

With no purpose to gain profits, it is a voluntary movement started to provide relief.

6. Unity as World Red Cross’ principle 

The Red Cross and Red Crescent will exist only one in each country. Hence, this organisation is open to all.

7. Universality

The international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement also shares equal status, liabilities and duties.  

World Red Cross day 2020 Celebration

Numerous programs and events are organised across the countries hosted by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Furthermore, they motivate people to protect the lives and taking care of the dignity of victims.
