Every year on September 29, World Heart Day is organized by the World Heart Federation. It aims to create awareness about cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), which are the biggest cause of death and disability in the world. This day is marked to educate people about preventive measures to reduce the risk of CVDs. World Heart Day is observed to inform and remind people that 80% of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided by controlling risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet, and physical inactivity.
Use Heart For Every Heart
The theme for World Heart Day 2022 is Use Heart For Every Heart. “This year it is celebrated as an opportunity for people to stop and consider how best to use heart for humanity, for nature, and for you. Beating cardiovascular disease (CVD) is something that matters to every beating heart,” a spokesperson from World Heart Federation said.
Use Heart
Use Heart means to think differently from a place of compassion and empathy. It means to make the correct decisions, to act with courage, to help others, and to engage with this important cause in the right manner. The heart is the first and last sign of life. It is the only organ that you can both hear and feel. It is also the only organ that has the potential to unite all of us as people.
Use Heart For Humanity
Use your heart by getting involved with activities surrounding events such as World Heart Day. Over 75% of CVD deaths occur in low-to-middle-income areas in our country, but access can be an issue anywhere. Use your heart to make access to treatment and support for CVD across India, to spread awareness, and help make a difference in the lives of all humankind.
Use Heart For Nature
Air pollution is the cause of not less than 25% of all CVD deaths. Use your heart by walking or cycling instead of taking your car for every small reason. Support clean air drives and contribute by spearheading healthier ways to save our planet and hence CVD sufferers.
Use Heart For You
Emotional and mental stress can double the risk of having a heart attack. So how to reduce stress levels for ourselves and our loved ones? Practice and teach meditation, Yoga, exercise, and getting sufficient sleep. Say a firm ‘NO’ to bad habits and harmful coping mechanisms to achieve cardiovascular health for every heart in our family and our society.
Use Heart For Life
A spokesperson of the World Heart Federation further elaborated, “For Every Heart involves the use of ‘For’ and swings the focus from the actions themselves to the beneficiaries of the actions, allowing for wider application of the campaign while also making it more personal. We want World Heart Day messages to reach as many individuals as possible to help achieve cardiovascular health for every heart.”
World Heart Day provides a platform to raise awareness and encourage individuals, families, communities, and governments to take action now. Together we have the power to reduce the burden and premature deaths from CVD and helping people of India to live longer, better, heart-healthy lives.
