Snake bite: Instant first aid

Snake bites can be fatal. Although, not all species of snake are venomous. The injury a snakebite can cause is from mild to severe but the chance of dying is still not much. The antibodies help one to survive venomous snake bites if medical assistance is being served immediately. In this article I’ll share instant first aid tips for snake bite.

Loss of consciousness and difficulty in breathing is common. Although, it is suggested to provide medical assistance as quick as possible.

1. Snake’s appearance

Try to capture what snake looked like and further one could differentiate if it was venomous or not. Call the ambulance immediately. Try to remain calm and wait for the paramedic.

2. Protecting the person from snake bite

Gently wash the area with soap and water if possible. Remain calm and remove tight clothing or jewelry in order to avoid the swelling. Take off shoes if the leg or foot was bitten. Cover the wound with a cloth. Further, make the person lie down with wound below the heart.

3. Avoid cutting the wound

Don’t cut the bite wound or attempt to suck out the venom. Never try to attempt

Sucking out the venom as it could be fatal for you. Avoid giving the person alcohol or caffeinated drinks or any kind of medications.
